Although the Taj Exotica is located quite close to Malé,
this is no problem when viewed in the light of the impeccable standards
of the Taj group, with its long history of catering for big-city
sophisticates. Set beside the flour-soft sand of a man-made haven
in the South Malé Atoll, the resort's a stunner.
Some 24 semi-detached and 31 stand-alone Lagoon Villas form a spearhead
in the sea, and there is also an octet of eight Beach Villas, each
with its own personal plunge-pool. Plus there's the sharp-intake-of-breath,
top-of-the-range Rehendhi Suite, with separate living and sleeping
quarters, private pier and separate spa room.
Although guests are predominantly European or Japanese rather than
Indian, the Subcontinental influence is apparent, and not just in
the cuisine at 24 Degrees or the Deep End. An innate conventionality
dictates marble rather than sand surfaces, there is a (very superior)
library and an indoor games room as at Indian hill-station resorts,
plus pool and snooker tables. |
